Follows the evolution of European businesses within the last two hundred years through developments such as the first and second industrial revolutions and the emergence of industrial districts and big business in European business centers such as the UK, Germany and France.

Requirements: Graduate or Undergratuate students, minimum age: 18. Fluent in English.

Course Description

European Business HistoryThe evolution of European businesses throughout the last two centuries provides the context for this course. Central issues include the entrepreneur, the firm and the role of companies in economic development.

The European firm during the first and second industrial revolutions is studied through developments such as the emergence of industrial zones and big business. 20th century business models in the UK, Germany and France and a dynamic analysis of multinational organizations also form an important part of the course.
