Covers artistic development in Spain from prehistoric to modern times, with a focus on the Baroque period, modernism and 20th century art. Introduces artists like Picasso, Gaudí and Dalí, and provides opportunities to integrate theory and practice through classroom discussion and museum visits.

Requirements: Graduate or Undergratuate students, minimum age: 18. Fluent in English.

Course Description

Spanish Art and Cultural HeritageThis course takes an expansive view of artistic development in Spain from prehistoric to modern times, with a focus on the Baroque period, modernism and 20th century art. Art theory and practice are given equal emphasis through classroom discussion and visits to museum exhibitions of interest.

The course is conducted in seminar format, using student feedback and dialogue to bring life to Spain’s cultural progression from early cave paintings to the whimsical visions of Picasso, Gaudí and Dalí.
