Course Description

Strategic Behaviour in Business and EconomicsThis course provides an intriguing approach to basic business concepts such as strategic thinking, interaction and decision-making by looking at Game Theory; a business model based on the ancient writings of Sun Tzu with widespread modern applications in fields as varied as economics, biology, artificial intelligence and philosophy.

Game Theory – a cornerstone of modern strategic thinking – visualizes business as a game where one player’s move initiates a set of responses and interactions among other players that can be anticipated and prepared for in advance. It acts as a vital analytical tool with the capacity to lend a critical advantage in today’s demanding business world.

The course begins with an experiment involving several decision-making games, the results of which are used as a context throughout the course to analyze solutions offered by decision and Game theory. Alternative approaches are introduced when standard economic theory fails to address the data adequately.
